Well yet ANOTHER week has flown by. We are already half way done with ourtransfer! Which is insane, and I'm hoping I'll get to stay with SisterW yet ANOTHER transfer, but that would probably be too good to betrue! This week was alright; we kind of struggled again. This time SisterW was sick for two days, so that didn't help either. The sicknesshas really been circling our zone and especially our apartment so that isno fun.
Last Monday we found out the Target in our area was closing down so wefigured there would be some sweet deals there that we should take advantageof. So of course I used my Target gift card from Grandma and GrandpaSchroeder and also the card you guys sent me :) So thanks! I got some goodt-shirts that will work great in the summer! So that was really awesome.
A funny experience: We knocked on a door to a family we wanted to visit. We knocked on the door and a bunch of Asians came to the window. I waved at the mother and she just stared at me. I waved again and she answered the door. She again kept staring. So we said, "Hi! Are you the So and So's?" We had torepeat ourselves like 5 times! She finally was like, "Who aw you?!" (in anAsian accent) "We are the missionaries! What's your name?" (She answered, but she wasn't who we were looking for!)"Well i am so sorry we have the wrong house." And she closed the door. Souncomfortable.. yet so funny!!! We looked at the house number. It was theright number, look at the street name..."ohhhhhhh ooops" we were on the wrong street! haha we had a good laugh and it was pretty entertaining. Toobad you can't hear Sis. W quote them, she has a pretty good Asian accent :)
This week we also spent a lot of time doing service. We were biking pasta ladies house we had done service for before. She was supposed to have moved outbut we saw a van there with things loaded in it. We thought people might be movingin so we stopped to offer our assistance and found that the same lady was STILLmoving out! So we stopped and helped get more things in the van and cleanup a bit more. We then went back the next day and helped her completelyfinish and then clean the house because she was turning in the keys thenext day. That took a lot of our time, but we got her done in time so thatwas good. She wants to take us to lunch sometime for all of our help.
we also went and saw that old woman at the old folks home again. We are going to go seeher every week in the mornings and take her a new "scripture book." We madea book with a certain scripture for each day that she can read throughoutthe week. She is such a sweet little old woman. She was SO happy to see usand said she didn't know if we were ever going to come back again! Thewhole time she just kept saying how happy she was that we had come back andthat we had made her whole day. She even did a little missionary work andintroduced us to one of her friends and said we should talk to themtogether when we come back next week! So that was good!
We had a dinner this week that was delicious! Sis W and I had been cravinghomemade Cafe Rio, and I was thinking how good Mom is at making it and howmuch I really wanted it. Well a few days later we got homemade Cafe Rio!haha we were pretty happy. But that's not what made the dinner so fun. Theyhad two little kids and they are ADORABLE. They are THE most well behavedchildren I have EVER seen. And not just well behaved, but SO polite ineverything they do. Their parents asked them to do something or not dosomething, and they immediately listened. They said "Thank you and no thankyou" to everything and always asked permission to do something. I was soamazed. But they were so cute and they loved having us there. We evenplayed barbies with the little girl (probably age 4 or 5 and the little boywas 2) while we waited for dinner to be ready. It was probably one of thefunnest dinners we have had yet :)
This week we did have some super awesome things happen though. One of our investigators invited us over for dinner! He said he felt that feeding us dinner was a way torepay us for all that we have done for him. We usually just teach him whenwe go and his wife has been really standoffish, but she joined fordinner and it was FABULOUS. We all got along really well and it was reallyfun! She got to know us and a little about what we do and stuff. I think itreally opened the door for maybe being able to teach her too! We thenshowed a message at the end about what matters most and family and stufflike that and Ron was crying! (yes, yes, yes!) and then he got up andbasically clobbered his son in a huge hug and then his wife too, andthen they all had a group hug. His son then whispered to his dad a question. His dad announced that his son didn't want us to know that he asked "when can youcome back." YES, YES, YES! It was so awesome! We are just starting to getin with this family really well. They didn't come to church this week :(But we are speaking next week and they said they would make that one for sure:) So that was awesome.
We had to leave that dinner really fast though because we had awedding to get to! Remember the couple I talked about before? The guy is a member, but his fiance is not. Well, she actually wore a dress(we thought for sure she would just be in her jeans) and she even let ustake a FEW pictures. She did not want to make this a big deal. But it wasjust us and the bishop and his wife in his office. He performed the weddingand we were the witnesses :) That means my name will forever be on theirmarriage certificate ;) So hopefully they always remember me! haha. But itwas pretty fun to be able to do that for them. They are adorable. I'mpretty sure the wife will come around. She has promised to go to church everyweek with her husband and to read and pray with him every night. So she will gether answer. She never wanted to get married either until she met her husband soshe has made quite a lifestyle change ;)
This week we had the same family feed us twice. We love them so much. They are always taking care of us! They fed us onSuper Bowl Sunday and so we had a LOT of junk/snack food, but MAN it wasgood :) They fed us the night before that too because they love us thatmuch :) It's pretty much our homeaway from home! They are so fun.
Anyway we also went and saw the old woman we do service for. She hasbeen down for a few days with pain in her back. So she was really happy tosee us and talk to us. She asked us a bunch of questions which eventuallyled to us teaching the plan of salvation. She said at the end that we aresuch smart young women. That she has a question and we always have a goodanswer that makes sense. Haha she is adorable, but very opinionated. Shesaid she couldn't come to church this week because of her back, but shesaid "WHEN I come to church, notice that I didn't say IF, but WHEN..." Sowe know she will come eventually :) So that's exciting! We are also making progress with our part member family. J.... went tothe temple open house all on his own and really liked it and said he felt apeace there. We taught part of the plan of salvation and it went reallywell. The son also had his girlfriend there (a nonmember) and she wasreally receptive and active in the lesson too! She said things really madesense and she liked some of the things that we did. So hopefully she cancome to other lessons as well :0 Lastly, we finally were able to see C.... again. She kept ignoring usbecause she has had quite a struggle these past few weeks and some majortrials. So she said she was too stressed and stuff. But we caught her at agood time and she said she likes when we come because it helps her get herfaith back to where it needs to be. She said she can't come to churchthough because her mother is Roman Catholic and would NOT be happy withthat. So we are praying that her mother will soften her heart and thatClaudia will still want to come to church and at least give it a try. But ya, miracles everywhere! It's easy to get down sometimes, but when wereally look closely, we always see miracles. You can see it in your livestoo! Stop and think about all God has given you, and you will be able torecognize God's hand in your life every day :) I promise! Have a good week!:)
